Blotting Paper or Film?

Do you use blotting paper based or blotting film based? Here is a review on the Body Shop blotting tissues versus Clean & Clear blotting film (Clean & Clear under Johnson & Johnson brand).

Blotting tissues or film is highly absorbent type of paper or film, it is used to absorb excess oil and excess makeup residues

Why blotting?

  1. To remove excess oil from your face
  2. Remove shine due to excess oil from your face
  3. Create matte finish on your face
I have the Body Shop blotting tissues and Clean & Clear blotting film, my thoughts on the products...

The Body Shop Blotting Tissues Review

It's actually not the conventional tissues as what you imagine, I would describe it as more of a paper based; 50 sheets per pack at RM11.90. The Ingredients contained oil.. don't be surprise.. it is not oily at all.

I would rate this product at 2/5, don't like paper based blotting tissues, just doesn't feels right on skin, the finish is matte but after a while it the matte finish is gone. I have combination oily dry skin (T zone oily).

Clean & Clear Blotting Film Review

This is film based blotting sheets; 60 sheets for RM9.90 per pack. Absolutely love this blotting film, you can see the oil absorb clearly on the sheets, so you can actually differentiate parts of the sheets that still can be used to absorb excess oil, see what I mean from the pictures comparison below. The film also feels softer compare to paper based blotting sheets. Finishing is matte and last long.

You see the Body Shop blotting sheet after used compare to Clean & Clear after used, I tested this only not long after washing my face thus the oil absorb is not much. I like the Clean & Clear film because you can see clearly the oil on it and you can see the clean part of the film you can identify easily which part of the film you can still use up to blot your face, instead of the Body Shop one, a bit difficult to notice. I rate Clean & Clear Oil Control Film 4/5.

Avene Face Mist Review

Anyeong~

Last few days I posted a review on the Body Shop Vitamin E face mist, after using it for few days, I found it to be leaving slight cast of shiny finish on my skin, I believe the Body Shop Vitamin E face mist contained some oil based ingredients - see the ingredients on the picture I posted on the review for this product here.

I am quite disappointed, this reminds me that I used to use Avene Face Mist many years back, but some how stop because I was only a student back then you see. I remembered it was quite good. Thus here is the Avene Face Mist review:

Comparison of  the packaging the Body Shop 100ml vs Avene 50ml Face Mist
The Body Shop face mist is in a plastic bottle and Avene in an aerosol bottle.

In a aerosol bottle packing

The description on the back of the bottle

The Avene face mist packing is cute and price is also reasonable, I bought from Watson for RM35 for 3 bottles (50ml) at discounted price it's about RM11.60 (about USD3.90 per bottle of 50ml) per bottle. Avene is well known as the sensitive skin care expert; and this face mist is actually Thermal Spring water so is high in mineral, unless you are sensitive to water this face mist should be suitable for you. Ingredients is water and nitrogen. Very simple huh.

I like the dewy finish Avene face mist does on my skin... love this product.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist Review

Anyeong ~

Needed a quick fix to moisturized skin? face mist is the answer. There are many good face mist out there. Today I am writing a review for a face mist from Body Shop from the Vitamin E skin care range "Vitamin E Face Mist".

This face mist contained rose water to instantly refresh and moisturized your skin suitable for all skin type, 100ml for about RM35. Instruction on the packaging spray on your face with distance of 15cm - close mouth and eyes during application. It smells like rose water, very refreshing and immediately feels skin hydrated. Tips: pat your skin gently to spread the mist on your face and allow better absorption (make sure you hands are washed and clean before you do that).

This face mist is in a convenient small bottle you can carry it along wherever you go - use it after the gym, in an aeroplane or during hot weather or when you feel your skin needed that little touch of moisturizing and refreshing mist.

Why Face Mist?

  1. Instant refresh
  2. Instant moisturize
  3. Soothe skin irritation
  4. Setting make up etc.

Sweet light pink color

Descriptions on the back of the plastic bottle packaging

Ingredients

What I like about this Face Mist:
  • Can open the bottle cap to DIY content, add your favorite beauty ingredients
  • Affordable

What I dislike about this Face Mist:
  • Oily cast after use
  • Not suitable for oily skin
  • Not suitable for sensitive skin (stinging sensation)
  • Too much chemical ingredients

Overall I will not buy this face mist again, I prefer Avene face mist, the ingredients is spring water and nitrogen, less chemical and safe, also really moist and supple for skin.

The Body Shop: Honey & Oat 3 in 1 Scrub Mask Review

I purchased The Body Shop Honey & Oat 3 in 1 Scrub Mask last week, as I was searching for a gentle and good exfoliate, and was introduce to this mask by the shop assistant in The Body Shop, this mask is 3 in 1 function as cleanser, polish and moisturize. The oatmeal grains actually act as gentle exfoliate to skin and honey (it's mentioned organic on the label) is well known to moisturize skin.

This mask is suitable for normal / dry skin. The price is RM55 (100ml) before discount, just purchase items in body shop worth RM100 and you automatically entitle to membership - discounts of 10% onward and other benefits. If I am not mistaken if you have 150 points onward you will get 15% discount RM1 equal to 1 point.

 The packing look like this

Description on the packing

Description on the packing: Apply to clean skin, leave for 5-10 minutes, rinse. Use once or twice a week. Avoid lip and eye areas.

The smell is very pleasing, the mask is easy to apply and the oat grain is not rough but soft and gentle, after 10 minutes I rinsed it off and my skin felt supple and moisturized, immediately noticed my skin was brighter, very happy with the result and satisfied with this products.

    Hada Labo Review

Today I am going to review Hada Labo - whitening range and also hydrating range. I had done some research prior getting the product and noticed some good review from other bloggers and decided to try the sample pack. You can get it from Watson around RM26+- cannot remember exactly but I remembered there was a promotion recently. (click on the picture to enlarge)

    Hydrating Range Review

The sample pack came with cleanser (12g), toner (30ml) and lotion milk (30ml), packing is simple and cute.

Description behind the box, if you notice on the top right corner, its says - fragrance free, colorant free, mineral free and alcohol free. You can read the description of each item from the picture - basically this range is emphasizing on hydrating your skin and lock in the moisture in your skin. Notice on the directions that - you need not use a cotton pad - but you need to pour some of the toner/lotion on your palm and gently apply and pat onto your face until absorb.

    Verdict:
I love the cleanser, my face feels moist, clean, smooth and matte. The second step is to put on the toner, it absorb onto my skin after tapping few times and my skin feels hydrate - I love it. The third step is putting on the lotion, I don't really like the lotion as it leave a shiny finish on my skin, probably only good to use at night time for myself. When you purchase - please see carefully as the packing for the toner and moisturizing milk is quite similar.

Rating for Hada Labo Hydrating range

    Cleanser: 5/5
    Toner: 5/5
    Moisturizing Milk: 2/5

    Whitening Range Review

The sample pack came with cleanser (12g), toner (30ml) and lotion (30ml), packing is simple and cute.

Description behind the box, ONE DROP LIGHTS UP YOUR SKIN. You can read the description of each item from the picture - basically this range is emphasizing on WHITENING your skin and lock in long lasting moisture in your skin. Notice on the directions that - you need not use a cotton pad - but you need to pour some of the toner/lotion on your palm and gently apply and pat onto your face until absorb.

    Verdict:
The cleanser is not as good as the hydrating range. The toner is easily absorb onto skin but the effect need to use long run to see the whitening effect and reduction of dark spot. The whitening milk is also giving my face a shiny finish which I don't like, but I think it's good to use at night time, as it's when our skin actively rejuvenating.

Rating for Hada Labo Whitening range
    Cleanser: 3/5
Toner: ?/5 (not sure yet - need to use in long run to see result of reducing dark spot)
Moisturizing Milk: 2/5 (don't like shiny finish)

Have you use this product before? please share your thoughts.
